Výstava: Transformation Necessity

The exhibition "Transformation Necessity" presents visitors with a series of paintings created as "instructions" for using the body in dialogue with the world. It is the unfolding of a long-standing personal interest in alternative approaches to painting that reflects the great challenges of the post-human era. The result is paintings in the form of manuals or scores, in which the emphasis is on transformation, the only way to sublimate the body, whose meaning seems lost in the banality of ordinary existence. These paintings have features of the philosophy of posthumanism combined with a new animistic way of thinking. The new animism has emerged in recent years as a possible alternative to the processes of objectification and alienation that characterize humanity's relationship with nature in the Anthropocene. It is, in fact, the possibility of a renewed creative practice of rediscovering the world. It is a relational practice in which human beings cultivate respectful relationships with other persons, whether human or non-human. Since the world is no longer understood as a dualistic, hierarchical relationship between humans and other non-human beings and objects, but as a relational network of different animated beings, the new animism intervenes in contemporary debates on the crisis of the economic system and the environmental crisis.

The exhibition is realized in cooperation with the Accton Art Foundation.

Exhibition "Rastislav Podoba: Time Saturated with Water" presents the artwork of the established Slovak artist, painter for the last five years of his career. The exhibition presents him not only as a painter, but also as a graphic artist. His work is characterized by the theme of nature, landscape, where he uses analytical painting to reflect the materiality of painting and gesture. At the same time, his natural themes intensively deal with the relationship between the environment and forests, its transformations (not only as impressions), but mostly also as a comments on the changes in mass forestry, deforestation of entire forest areas. R. Podoba pursues this not only informatively, but on a weekly basis at the places of action where his direct painting inspiration comes from. Forest destruction and ecological change, as well as mass agricultural management and landscape change, have been part of his intensive painting themes for more than a decade.
Rastislav Podoba is first and foremost a painter, his works have been characterized from the beginning by large-format painting on the border between abstraction and reality. Important for him is the work with paint, as well as with its layering into the mass. The works are interesting for their balanced composition, large-scale colour, as well as for their overlaps in meaning with the current state of Slovak forests and the change in the character of the Slovak landscape.
